Song

There are many Doctor Who fans who are wondering when River Song will return to Doctor Who. There may be a possibility for television, but it is less likely than audiobooks by Big Finish. According to this article from Doctor Who News, Big Finish is making a set of audiobooks with River Song as the many characters. Big Finish has produced five audiobooks in the series The Diaries of River Song.

Fans now have confirmation Big Finish is producing two more sets of audiobooks in the series. With Big FInish at the wheel, Doctor Who fans will always have new material to buy and listen. The idea of audiobooks is a great idea. These have and will keep Doctor Who and other fan favorites alive.

There is confirmation of two new series. Series six has a release date of August 2019, then four months later in January 2020 series seven will be released. The confirmation of the release for series six and seven means Doctor Who fans will see the Doctor’s wife again. Many fans were sad when she left, but now they have hope. The release of these two series means she is not dead per say.

There isn’t much information on the two series. What the article does tell fans is River will travel back to Victorian London just before The Talons of Wen-Chiang. Does this mean she will meet the Fourth Doctor? The answer to that question is obvious. Of Course, she will, if not who else will it be. Oh, that is right this is sci-fi. So, there are other possibilities. But the most likely Doctor will be the Fourth. Well, maybe she won’t.

The name of the play is The Talons of Greel. In the story, River is playing detective, trying to figure out what is going on with the performers. It doesn’t say what is happening to the performers, but that is what she is there to do.

There are several returning actors from other audio stories. By getting some of the same actors to be the voices of the characters make the stories strong. At the same time, it allows for familiarity for the fans. Fans are more likely to buy these books when they know who is in them.

Once again, Doctor Who fans are thanking Big Finish for their work on audio plays. Their work helped to keep Doctor Who around and on the minds of fans. When the BBC wasn’t making new adventures, Big Finish was making books for fans.
