Secret Regeneration

In this article from Radio Times, Huw Fullerton makes his case the BBC will have a secret regeneration if Jodie is leaving. Honestly, in Louisiana and watching Doctor Who on Louisiana Public Broadcasting, fans did know a change occurred. One also has to realize they began airing the series in the late 1970s with Tom Baker. At that time, Tom was the Doctor. So, they introduced Doctor Who with the Doctor who is the best-known. So, where is this leading?

Well, fans in England knew because the BBC announced the new Doctor before the last story aired. Meaning the regeneration of the Doctor isn’t a surprise. Fans are sneaky and want to know beforehand who the next Doctor is. It is hard to keep it under wraps when the media catches the production team in the act. The production team can’t hide the filing of the next series. The next series is filming before the present one finishes airing. Therefore, the media knows who will e the next Doctor. Do fans hope for a secret reveal of the next Doctor? As a fan, yes, they wish for secrecy. How much better is it not to know whose face will appear after all of the fireworks?

With everything happening as it has, the next Doctor may be a secret until Jodie regenerates. A secret regeneration will bring a larger viewing audience. At least, you would think so anyway. As a fan, knowing the next doctor some nine months to a year before the regeneration sucks. For once, let’s keep it a mystery! Not knowing who will be the next Doctor is exciting. People love surprises. The question is, will the BBC keep the next Doctor a secret? Your guess is as good as mine. If everything is, as usual, the BBC will reveal the next Doctor. But if they are serious about keeping the secret, there will be a secret regeneration!
