Rave Reviews

Let’s begin with ratings don’t mean anything. Ok, maybe the statement isn’t true. Are the ratings of a show important? Sure they are, but how important are the reactions of fans. Well, according to this article, Doctor Who Flux got rave reviews. Fan reviews are significant. As a showrunner, Chibnall needs to satisfy fans and not people reviewing Doctor Who. Then as far as ratings are concerned, they will not be accurate. Many fans record the show and watch it later. Not all fans have time to watch it when it airs.

From a writer’s standpoint, there is enough mystery to bring me back. There are questions to be asked. Who is this new character Chibnall introduces to fans? Is he a Timelord? The latter seems to make a lot of sense. Omega is who comes to mind, but it is someone else. His name is Swarm, and he is dangerous and will pose problems for the Doctor. From a first look, he is powerful as his sister, and we need to consider them as formidable enemies. With what happens, it seems like that is how we see her. At least, she is his partner in crime. Does this remind us of something? Of course, it does. Fans will remember the episode with the Tenth Doctor and Donna Noble.

So, if the ratings are down, but if fans who watch it give rave reviews, is that possible? Of course, it is. People, who read articles only, look at what they read.  There is more to it than that. Fans are busy, so they find other ways to watch Doctor Who. We live in a busy world and live busy lives. We can’t always find time to watch a show. So, fans need to look at everything differently. Maybe just maybe, the final series of Jody and Chibnall will be good. Let’s not judge before seeing it all.
