Lowest Ratings

Season 11, which is Jodie Whittaker’s first as the Doctor, did end in a big way. According to this article, the New Years special had the lowest ratings of any of the specials since the shows return. Some fans don’t have any concern about the ratings as long as the stories are good.

Now what fans believe to be good differs with every fan, but the idea is the same. They all want something worth watching as well something they can get enjoy. The writing carries a lot of the weight when it comes to being able to enjoy. It is the writing which conveys the message and everything about the story. Therefore if the writing is not sound the story will fall apart. Because of some fans being critical of the writing, they may deem the episode a failure.

While some fans are critical when it comes to writing, others are the same way about the production of the story. There is a need for a good director, producers, and showrunner to make the show. They must know and understand what the fans enjoy and want to see. Maybe in some way, Season 11 was not satisfactory to them. Therefore, they did not see any need in watching the New Years Special.

Does the cast have something to do with the lowest ratings? Maybe for some, it did. For the most part, fans like Whittaker, Tosin Cole, Bradley Walsh, Mandip Gill. With the exception that some believe three companions are too many. The members of the cast are good actors and actresses and do an admiral job. So, the cast is probably the least likely reason for the low ratings.

Most likely the reason for such a drop in the ratings is the fact the BBC moved it. When considering the fact fans in the past watched the special on Chrismas, one can see this probably is the biggest reason for the lowest ratings. This only an opinion and there are others. The fans who did not watch the special will have their reason or reasons.

The hope of fans is the BBC will learn from this and make the necessary changes to correct the problem. The fans have spoken and apparently, they did not like the idea of a New Years Special.
