Excited

The Tenth Doctor, David Tennant, had some great things to say about Jodie Whittaker. In an article from Radio Times by Susan Doran, we find that Tennant is excited that she is the Doctor. While at the Glasgow Film Festival he tells Heart Scotland, “Because I know Jodie and I can imagine all the things that she might bring to is, I’m thrilled to see what that’s going to look like and what the stories are going to be.”(1)

You know, as a fan without any knowledge of Whittaker, I must take what guys like Tennant say to heart. My experience as far Whittaker goes is nil. So basically, I don’t have any idea how things will go. Ok, this is the same old song and dance for me and yeah you as a reader will probably be very negative toward me, but I am speaking my mind.

The question to be asked is if other actors who have been the Doctor say she is going to be good, why do so many fans dislike the idea. Of course, many of them believe the Doctor is to be a man. Then there are sorts of opinions. Some fans think the BBC is trying to be politically correct.

Does the BBC have an agenda? They may very well have one, and some fans believe they do. Well, some fans are angry about the casting of Whittaker as the Thirteenth Doctor. Some are outspoken then others say they will not watch Doctor Who now that Whittaker is the Doctor.

Fans should be excited because there is a new Doctor. The fact we will be getting new stories and episode, which we see as a positive. Why can’t fans wait and see how things are going to go. Too many are judging Whittaker before seeing her in the role. Fans are looking at her work as an actress and not giving her a chance.

David Tennant knows her much better than any fan because they worked together on Broadchurch. He says, “She is funny.” Something fans may not know.

With some fans, it seems as if they can’t get excited about the new Doctor. They haven’t seen yet, but they believe she will fail. Failure is not what fans need for Doctor Who. The fans need success from Jodie and Chibnall.

In conclusion, there are fans as excited about Whittaker as Tennant. Then there are those who do not. Whichever side you are on, we need to stand with our show and wait and watch the shows before passing judgment.
