Warning

Here lately it seems the blog post are all coming from Radio Times. Well, it seems there is always some great information to gain from them. Well, here is another article which touches on the season 11 and the new showrunner. In this article by Huw Fullerton, he wrote about a warning Chibnall told Doctor Who magazine Steven Moffat gave to him.

As the outgoing showrunner, Moffat would be a great start for information when it comes to Doctor Who. The article starts with Fullerton tell us about how Chibnall tries to beat around the bush. He does not want to give any relevant information about the stories. That is a great idea, but whether it remains secret we don’t know?

The warning which comes from Moffat does not have anything to do with secrecy about Doctor Who. At least not from this fans perspective. But what Fullerton reveals as the advice Moffat gave is that Chibnall’s life was about to be consumed. The part of being the showrunner for Doctor Who is very time-consuming. It takes a lot of time for not just the actors, but even more so for the man who runs the show.

Well, those words are lite compared to the actual words Moffat spoke. To quote Moffat, he said, “I’m sorry, but I’m about to derail your life.”(1) Chibnall at one time had questions as to whether he was going to take the job or not. The words of Moffat most likely hit home. Chibnall like what Moffat told him for a start.

He goes on to say that Moffat continues by saying, “Now, you’re probably either excited or worried about the future maybe both.”(2)

Moffat says to Chibnall, “If it’s any consolation, that the combination of excitement and concern is also the natural state of making the show: excited about what you’re planning, concern how you’ll achieve it.”

Moffat understands what it takes to make the show, and his advice will likely go a long way with Chibnall. Chibnall has concerns as he should, but he also has excitement because the show is Doctor Who.

Fans need to understand there is a lot that goes on in making Doctor Who. There is also a legacy to keep. This legacy causes immense pressure and concern. Moffat’s warning needs to be heeded by Chibnall.

Chibnall will do good as he does not let everything get him down. Understanding his role will go a long way in helping him produce the best shows. The BBC has placed their trust in him as the best choice for the job, and the fans will just need to trust the BBC’s judgment.
