season 10

I really hate it has been such a long wait for season 10. The timing is all up to the BBC and I really can’t do anything about it. The article says, it’s going to be along 12 months, especially without a TARDIS.(1) Basically, I can tend to believe that. It is like I am an addict and I have going cold turkey with my drug of choice. I really don’t know about other fans but it is a hard time for me. I want to see some new Doctor Who. Now, some of the fans may be alright with the wait but I am not really there.

I work a good bit and I write these post so my time is really limited on watching Doctor Who, but I like to see some when I get in the mode. I especially like new episodes. These are the ones which catch you by surprise with some of the action. Those are the best, but I still love to watch the classic serials and the ones from the new serieses.

I really envy the UK on this one. Season 10 is set to air this coming spring in the UK on BBC one.(2) Of course this is a few months after the Christmas Special and still makes it hard to wait. The fact I am living in the US, I will not see the season 10 to probably the fall. Now, I may be wrong because I am not sure how soon after the episodes air on BBC one that BBC America airs them in the US. The article says that Peter Capaldi accidentally let a fan know the provisional launch date, and because of that the BBC moves up the launch date to April.(3)

Some of the reason for such a late launch date is the fact that Jenna Coleman left the show. Steven Moffat had to work at finding her replacement.(4) I mean the Doctor without a companion is just not right. This activity cause the filming of the show not to resume until June 20. Then because of the work they do with shooting and editing the show, it pushes it back. But of course with it being Moffat’s last season and other factors to make it a huge production and event.(5) The BBC pushes it back.

We already know that Moffat is leaving after season 10, but are uncertain as to whether Capaldi will be around after season 10. The BBC and Chibnall have ask him to stay on but at this point he is unsure and does not want to answer that question at this time. I tend to believe that he loved working with Coleman and when she left it changed for him. Now, I may be wrong. That is just something that comes to mind for me. I say that only because Capaldi somewhat hinted to Coleman being on the show in a roundabout way. But Coleman denies it.

I do look forward to the new companion. I say that because Pearl Mackie is just being introduced to Doctor Who. Therefore, Moffat has rebooted things. He shot this season different to help her get acclimated to Doctor Who. Hey, that is okay with me as long as it make the chow better. It is nice to see Moffat step and see that he needs to do this. Then at the same time Capaldi likes her and seems pleased with her as his companion.

Another thing which is great is the fact that two characters return. The first one is Missy. It just seems as if there is not a season or serial without the Doctor’s long time enemy/friend. It is always great to see these two go head to head. Moffat also brings back Nardole. Hey, I can’t wait to see this. Then the rumors of Matt Smith returning are not true people. I know there has been some rumblings about this happening, but it not true.(6)

Apparently Moffat has always had 13 episodes, but that is not going to happen. Now the it is suppose to be 13 plus the Christmas Special. As the result Moffat’s stepping down he only doing 12 episodes, but he is trying get it to where he can do some specials.(7) Now whether that happens or not I do not know, but it would be great. What the article does say though is that episodes two will have an international flavor. The article does say that they shot scenes at the City of Arts and Science Museum in Spain.(8)

For his last stand as showrunner, Moffat seems to be changing the format again. Now I have not really taken notice of the format. But apparently they were 2 parters for season 9. Moffat films both 2 parts and other formate as the showrunner. He stops that before season nine and then brings them back for season 9. Well, he changes is mind again, so we really don’t know what format to expect.(9)

Then finally, there are some big name guest stars to appear on Doctor Who this year. One denies it but is confirmed. The first of these is David Suchet, Poirot, who plays the character known as only The Landlord. Then Ralf Little is confirmed, but denies it.(10)

Overall, I am so excited and really can’t hardly wait until the Christmas Special, but the rest I am even more excited about. I am in withdrawal and need so new Doctor Who now!
