Doctor’s TARDIS
The first time I see the Doctor’s TARDIS as a child, all I see is a blue box. I did not know until later that it is a Blue Police Call Box. Hey, I was only 9 years old and I really did not care what model it is. After watching the program for several years, I remember the Doctor saying that he had a Type 40 TARDIS. I also seem to remember him saying that it is obsolete. I do not have to read an article to know that about the Doctor’s TARDIS.
Another important fact about the Doctor’s TARDIS, which I feel is relevant is that he stole it. Now, the program may not admit that he stole it. What I believe the words are that he borrows it. Basically he went into the repair shop on Gallifrey and takes an old Type 40 which is being repaired. This of course explains why it malfunctions so often. The TARDIS which he takes had some problems and may even have been ready for the junkyard.
We are not sure of the age of the DOctor’s TARDIS. I do not seem to remember any specific information which we hear about this. Originally there are 306 Type 40, and because of their age all decommissioned.(1) How in the world does the Doctor just happen to take a TARDIS which the Time Lords cannot trace. What I mean is that the TARDIS the Doctor borrows is no longer in the registry.(2) Now that is something that can only happen with the Doctor.
Since I began watching the program, the interior has had many changes. The set designers change the look according to times and technology. IN most cases making the interior look much different. At the same time the TARDIS is a computer so there are desktop themes which are stored and the interior can be changed by simply accessing the archive. Therefore, the Doctor can change the interior whenever he wishes.
At one point in the Doctor’s Wife, a the soul of the TARDIS is transferred into a humanoid female called Idris.(3) The Doctor loves his TARDIS like his wife and she always take him where he needs to go and not necessarily where he wants. There is allot that new series adds to the background and description of the Doctor’s TARDIS and I cannot remember it all. I do know that the Doctor is now over 1200 ears old and has had the TARDIS for most of his life.
