Replacement

Okay, so Jenna Coleman was going to leave after the Chrismas Special prior to season 9. If she decides to leave Steven Moffat will need to find a replacement for her. Everyone knows the Doctor doesn’t travel alone, and I can’t remember too many times the Doctor did not have a companion if any. This article by Paul Jones reveals who Moffat had in mind to be the Doctor’s new companion had Coleman chose not to return.

There are many fans of Doctor Who who did not want Colman to leave, and apparently, Moffat knew she didn’t want to go either. So, what does Moffat do? According to the article, he paints a dreary conclusion to Clara last episode to convince Coleman to return. Well, everyone knows the ending. Jenna decides to return for one more season, and the rest is history.

Okay, enough about Coleman coming back. If you are reading this, you are looking for the person or companion to replace Coleman. Well, had Coleman not returned for the Season 9, Moffat seems to want to go in a different direction. There was a character in Last Christmas who he had in mind. The new companion is almost Faye Marsay Shona.

Now, there is a video picture of her in the article linked to this post. We can only imagine how the relationship and the storylines would go. Coleman chose to return, but what if we don’t see her again?

As the scientist, Shona does wonderfully. I can see her and Capaldi being a good team. I don’t know whether she is Scottish or not, but she does sound like she is. Having two Scottish actors playing roles in Doctor Who would be amazing. As a fan, I don’t remember there being two Scottish actors or actresses before or not. So, maybe it would have been a first, but I don’t know

I can say the scene from Last Christmas where she is walking through the room with the sleepers is classic. You can’t but help laugh as she tries to get to the door. There is a possibility she would be a great companion, but we will never know. Jenna Coleman chose to return and give us one more season with Clara.
