Oxygen

Oxygen

Man oh man, what about oxygen? This is an episode that really does at some points scare the viewer. It is a chilling case in space. Everyone knows as humans we need oxygen to live and in this episode spacesuits which supply oxygen to the wearer turn on the occupants.

In the beginning of the show, it leads in with some things which raised my curiosity. Three of the remaining people on the space station are outside doing something on the outside and some of the others who were crew members attack them. I did not know or understand what is going on, so I waited impatiently to see what is going on. When the show returns to the Doctor he is in the TARDIS will Bill and Nardol. Nardol is trying his best to keep the Doctor from traveling anywhere in the TARDIS. Well, this does not work. Nardol even takes a fluid link out thinking that this will prevent the Doctor from going anywhere. Well, Nardol finds out that his taking the fluid link out does not work.

Because the Doctor cannot stay in one place, he proves to Nardol that taking the fluid link out will not stop him from going anywhere. When they materialize, they find themselves on a space station in the outer reaches of space. All but four of the original crew are dead. The Doctor discovers that the spacesuits are attacking the crew and killing them in order to make humans better. They had called for a rescue ship but later discover the rescue ship had already left without them. I love the way that the  Doctor assures Bill she will not die. We do not find out until later why he tells her this.

I will tell you what I really like about this episode is the part where the Doctor is blinded from staying in a vacuum without a helmet. He saves Bill’s life by giving her his helmet. The damage he receives from this gives material fr upcoming episodes. There is also some thought that this will mark some kind of regeneration stoppage. I do not know at this point, but it is interesting that the Doctor is now blind.
