New Monsters
According to this article, Doctor Who fans are not going to see monsters from the past. But rather there will be new monsters. Why Chris Chibnall chose not to have Daleks or Cybermen as part of this season is beyond me. The idea of not seeing old enemies may be a good thing, then again it may not either.
How will fans react? There is an expectation of all fans to see great stories, but what is coming if there isn’t at least one story with an old monster? Really, there isn’t going to be any Daleks or Cybermen. Can that be good? I know during Jon Pertwee’s reign as the Doctor, he never faced the Cybermen. The only time you see a Cyberman is on the story, Carnival of Monsters. Pertwee’s five years as the Doctor was good maybe even great. So, yeah Doctor can be good without one of the old monsters.
Of Course, that was during Barry Letts time of running Doctor Who, and he did a marvelous job. I do understand that all the Doctors will face these enemies sometime during their reign, but that does not mean they will during the first season as the Doctor. With the change in the Doctor, the production crew, and other aspects of Doctor Who, this may be a good thing. Chibnall will do stories with these guys in them, but not the first season he runs.
Okay, now we know the Doctor will have all new monsters. The question is what will we see. Who knows what these writers came up with for season 11? Some fans will see this and question Chibnall’s work. Some already question whether he is going to do a good job or not.
My opinion does not mean very much. The fact I haven’t much experience with the new cast or showrunner puts me at a disadvantage. The advice from others is mixed. Some fans believe everything will be all good, but the other fans have a different take on Chibnall. So, how am I to take all I have heard or read? One must also wonder how others who don’t know these guys will react.
My hope is things will be fine without Daleks or Cybermen the first season. Chibnall is the showrunner and for now, and fans need to trust him. To be honest, that is all we can do. Whether you like him or not, he is the one running the show. We can’t change that or the Doctor. The BBC wanted a new Doctor Who. So, we have a whole new crew for everything. The Doctor without the Daleks and Cybermen for one season will be alright but becomes a problem if he never uses them.

Don’t get too upset, as long as the stories are good, the cast gels, and production values stay high, we’ll have a good season.
View CommentWe should just wait and see, pointless doing anything else.
I’m looking forward to it
