Fantastic

When Russell T Davies was able to move forward with the reboot of Doctor Who, he cast Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor. I will be honest and say the first time I watch it isn’t fantastic and make a decision to watch season 1 of the reboot, to see my original thoughts are right.

I have only watched the first three stories, but my thoughts are changing. Eccleston’s mannerisms caught my eye, and he and Billie Pipper make a good team.

One thing we all need to realize is Doctor Who has a rebirth and there are kinks to work out. Being judgemental after the first time you watch is not good. Well, this fan did just that and did not give it much of a chance to make it.

Some fans may even say that I am not much of a fan either, to be honest, access to Doctor Who for me was limited. It hurt me very much when they canceled Doctor Who in 1989. Then in 1996, they made Doctor Who the movie, which I was not able to see but one time.

Season 1

During the first three stories, the Doctor uses the word fantastic a number of times describing his feelings about his actions as well as what happens. The use of the word does in some way puts a smile on my face, because it seems like he is in control. To be honest it is a great word for the Doctor and lets us know it is the Ninth Doctor.

One thing I saw with Eccleston is the emotions on his face. He was able to show sadness and even to the point of crying one time as he is saving the people about to die from the sun destroying the earth. You even see him get emotional when he speaks about being the last Time Lord.

As a fan, passing judgment on any Doctor without watching is wrong. At this point, feeling for Eccleston may not be fantastic, but it is getting closer. There are more stories to watch and then rewatching them all again.

Sometime in the future, this fan may see Eccleston as fantastic. Only time will tell, but what I know is I was entertained while I watch those stories. Let’s move forward watch more story with the Ninth Doctor and hear him say fantastic.
