Persuade

To persuade an actor from leaving Doctor Who may be difficult. In my opinion, Capaldi should have stayed as the Doctor for at least one more year. But once he makes up his mind, there isn’t any turning back. Everyone is always sad when an actor chooses to leave the role of the Doctor. I can say I am both sad and maybe a little upset.

In the process of thins, Chris Chibnall and Steven Moffat try to persuade Capaldi to stay. I even read that he is asked to stay on. Capaldi has his reasons as to why he wishes to go. I don’t know if it the changing of he showrunner or a feeling things are not going to be any different from last three seasons. To persuade Capaldi apparently is not even in play. Capaldi earlier says he loves playing the Doctor, but just a few months later chooses to step down.

Both Moffat and Chibnall try to persuade Capadi from leaving the show. I personally can see why. But then I can also see why Capaldi wishes to go. There are many things which could be the reason for him leaving. I mean all we need to do is look at the last two seasons. They revolve around Clara and not the Doctor. Then from everything I read the BBC does not promote him as much as his predecessors.

I also thing that the BBC has something to do with him leaving. They want to let everyone know that they want to return to a Doctor like David Tennant. They are wanting a younger more charismatic actor. This news in itself could be the reason Moffat and Chibnall are not able to persuade Capaldi to stay.

They all you have to do is look at the track record of the show. Most Doctors only stay for 3 seasons.(1) That is always in the back of any actor’s mind. Another reason they are not able to persuade Capadi to leave is that Moffat is leaving as well.

Moffat and Chibnall did not persuade Capaldi to stay which means he has a good reason for not retuning. Personally I would love to see what Capaldi will do when the stories revolve around him and not the companion.
