Bill Potts

Bill Potts, aka Pearl Mackie, is really a very interesting and exciting character for me. In this article, Pearl Mackie talks about her journey as Bill Potts. No one really knew what to expect from this companion when she is revealed, but what we get is great. I love her as a companion and her reactions a all were absolutely great.

THis companion will be one of my favorites because of the way she seems to always take things a little different from other companions. She and the Doctor are amazing at times and I love it. There seems to be a great chemistry there and she loves the Doctor.

I truly hate to see Bill go and I think maybe we should have more of Bill, but that turns out not to be the plan. Mackie and everyone else around Doctor Who knows from the beginning that Bill is a one and done companion. Mackie is okay with that and I am to, but I want to see more of Bill. Well, Doctor Who fans and myself will get that opportunity in the Christmas Special. One last time we will see Bill as she is reunited with the Doctor.

Mackie is right though even though she is not a companion anymore, she was glad to be apart of Doctor Who. I am glad she is taking this in stride because she knew from the start she would not make but one series. I am so glad to see such an attitude. Now, whether she is this humble for real I cannot say, but hey I love it. She states in the article, “I don’t want to be greedy, y’know?”(1)

She is a real sport because her send off is not like other companions. I mean look at how others have left the show. Most do not leave when the Doctor regenerates. They stay then have there own amazing send off. For example, Adric dies saving everyone. Matthew Waterhouse leave the show dying on a ship. Others leave and they shed tears, because they do not want to go. I can say the Mackie has the right attitude, and I hope one day to see her again in Doctor Who, but with the new showrunner and direction of the show who knows.

I am glad to watch Bill over and over again, because I love Mackie’s take on the character. My view of Bill is different from other fans I know, but I do hope that there are others who love her as a companions. And yes as the article says, “No One will play Bill Potts forever.”
