Sarah Jane

Sarah Jane

Sarah Jane to me is one of the most popular companions of all time. She is first seen with the Third incarnation played by Jon Pertwee. She stars in 18 episodes which spans three years. It is only fitting that a spin off with her name on it is a brilliant idea.

Well, ten years ago yesterday the Sarah Jane Adventures pilot airs. The name of the episode is Invasion of the Bane. Russell T Davies along with Gareth Roberts write this 60 minute special.(1)

This to me is a great idea for such a character from Doctor Who. I truly love watching Sarah Jane with the especially the Fourth Doctor, Tom Baker. What I see when watching them is great chemistry and acting. Therefore it make for great viewing when watching them. They work together so well.

It so hard to believe that the did not do more with the Sarah Jane character. I feel that she is a popular one among classic Doctor Who fans, because she is one of my favorite companions of all time. She is one of those companions who I hated to see leave the program, but there are reasons for everything.

I just recently found out about The Sarah Jane Adventures. I have not actually watched any of them but will do my best yo find them and watch them all. Even though I just learned about them, I did not know it has been ten years. I do remember the news of Elisabeth Sladen passing away, but did not realize it is the reason the show ends. I do understand though when it comes to that. Apparently the show is doing well then Sarah Jane leaves. That is a blow to the show and therefore they cancel the show.

It spent 5 years on the air and may have been on longer has we not lost Elizabeth. She is such a good actress and brings many good things to the show. I do know that she put her heart into the show.

The first spinoff with Sarah Jane in it did not pan out, but the next one runs for five years prior to her surmise. I know that I am not the only one to miss her and to wish she is still around. If The Sarah Jane Adventures are anything like Doctor Who, you can count me in as a fan.
