Uproar
Uproar may not be the right word for the response of some Doctor Who fans. There is so much talk about the next Doctor being a female, but there are still those who do not want that. From the standpoint of many fans this will be wrong.
I wrote about Chris Chibnall not wanting to do anything gimmicky. Now, the idea of a female Doctor can sound like a gimmick. I can also see where those who are pro-female for the Doctor are coming. They point to what Steven Moffat did with the Master. Everyone who is a Doctor Who fan knows that the Master is now Missy. This is a change from the normal and also an enlightening thing. Apparently, Time Lords can be regenerate into a male or female. Therefore, it make you wonder.
Uproar may even be a too light of a description for what will ensue. There are critics of this idea. Many of them say the Doctor has always been a man. They feel to change gender is against everything they know about Doctor Who. As a result there are many who will stop watching Doctor Who.
I can see the uproar happening from both sides. You have those who want to be traditional. But also you have those who want to see change. There will be less maybe if the Doctor remains a male in gender, but I can be wrong. Because of all the talk about a female, there could be a big uproar either way.
Both sides have their points, but they are not the man choosing the next Doctor. Chris Chibnall is and I see him having the best interest of the show in mind. I do not believe that you need have gimmicks for Doctor Who to be good. Neither are they needed to make it popular. Because if the right person is cast as the Doctor and the writers do a great job of writing. Along with the proper directing and show running, the show will be great.
Doctor Who is iconic because of the writers and producers doing the right things. Therefore, we must rust that Chibnall is going to do the right thing for the program,. So, let’s get ready to season 10 and what is going to happen in the coming seasons.
