Michelle Gomez

To tell the truth I think that Steven Moffat casting Michelle Gomez as Missy was really good. I never expected him to bring the Master back as a female. That in itself is a surprise. I really did not know what to think about this or even that it would work. Michelle Gomez is a great actress and I love her as Missy. She continues a long tradition of great Master characters. Her schemes were just as diabolical and any of her predecessors.

I truly like the way that Moffat uses her in all the stories in which she plays. There are ways here which change my view of the Master. She was still very evil and always tries to find a way to defeat the Doctor. But since the Doctor is the hero of this program, he always wins. That of course is the way it works. Anyone who watches the show will see Missy and when they do they wonder what she is going to do this time.

I hate to see Gomez leave the show. Her portrayal of Missy is always something I look forward. Maybe we will see her return in another episode later with Chris Chibnall. I do not know if he will even go there since both John Sim’s Master and Gomez’s Missy are both killed in the final episode of season 10. Of course, this is Doctor Who and Chibnall can do what he wants. It would not be the first time they bring the Master back from the dead.

I am not going to get my hopes up for a return of Missy to Doctor Who, but there could be a possibility. The only problem is they will need to recast the character because Gomez’s Missy died. The Master did use all of his regenerations and I do not know if he received a new cycle like the Doctor. Maybe someone somewhere can answer that question for me.
