Katarina is a character from Doctor Who which I really do not know much if anything about. I don’t who will know much about here these days. Apparently there is only episode remaining which she stars. I hate this has happened. The fact the BBC destroyed episodes in the 1960s is really terrible. Her stint on the show was only 2 shows. To me that means the viewers never really got to know her.

I can see to why this is a character which will be hard to write into the scrip. From what I read they had problems writing material for her. The place in history she comes is not one they knew much about for one. I know there is historical data about this time frame but they really do not know how the people were. The one thing for sure is that they are not very advanced. Personally I can see that. Things may not have been as bad as far crimes like stealing and the people did not have locks on their doors. Which means Katarina does not know about keys.

It is rather sad that Katarina is only on the programs for two stories. Then the way she leaves the program just as sad. I hate they did not keep her for very long, because the viewers may have liked her. But they did not really get to know her because her time on the show is short.

Since there is only one episode left with Katarina in it, I will not and many other fans will not get to see her. Now with the use of cartoons to restore serials, they may do that. But the actual recorded ones will not be seen.

The Doctor meets her in The Myth Makers and Katarina dies in The Daleks’ Master Plan.(1) The short time she is on the show the writers use her as friend. What actually happens is she becomes friends with Vicky. But this is not what is the desire of her owner Cassandra. Katarina is very active for the short time she is on the show.

The way she treats the Doctor and looks at the TARDIS is not anything less that what I expect. She lives during a time where there are kinds of gods. It will be very easy to see where she will think the Doctor is a God and the TARDIS a temple. This of course annoys the Doctor. She is helpful though because she helps to tend to Steven after he is injured.(2)

With the all the technology around her, she really cannot come to grasp with what she sees. Then at the same time never see the Doctor as less than a God. To some extent I can see this because of the way he arrives in Troy. I mean the TARDIS just appearing and then all the other mind blowing things she sees. We will not know if she would have ever come to grips with all the Doctor had for her to see. This is because she dies in The Daleks’ Master Plan. With that happening, Katarina is the first companion to die on screen.

I am not able to give much on this because I have not seen and may never see neither of the stories. But I can see that Katarina made some impact on the show.
