Christopher Eccleston

Fans at one time would not know what The Day of the Doctor would be like until now. Steven Moffat originally wrote the script for Christopher Eccleston, but he decided not to do it. So, we saw John Hurt as the War Doctor. In this article, Huw Fullerton explains that now there a part of the script available.

A question to ask is, how would the special be different with Eccleston as part of the story. Some fans love Eccleston and wish he had stayed at least another season. Fans know change is a part of Doctor Who and expect change, but sometimes the changes are too soon.

Whether fans knew about Eccleston being apart of the original script for the Day of the Doctor, I am not sure. My thoughts as well other fans thoughts would be to have Christopher Eccleston on the Day of the Doctor. Writing Eccleston’s Ninth Doctor into the script is a no-brainer. Some fans may have wondered why he wasn’t on the Day of the Doctor.

Well, Moffat originally wrote the script with the Ninth Doctor in it, but after Eccleston said he did not want to do it. He rewrote it with the War Doctor. Therefore, we are left wondering what the story would be like with the Ninth Doctor. Well, now fans have a chance to see what would have happened with  Ninth Doctor on the show.

There would probably be a marked difference in the way show would flow. Whether the scenes were different, is not made clear, but Eccleston would have done the things a little different. The who are curious about this will take time and find out about it. Hurt and Eccleston are two different people. Therefore, the scenes would be different. Whether Eccleston’s style makes the story better, we will not know.

It is a good idea for Moffat to release this part of the script. As a result, fans will get to see how the story would unfold with the Ninth Doctor. Some fans probably wanted Eccleston on the Day of the Doctor, but because Eccleston declined the role they did not.

In conclusion, this is great. Fans everywhere can now see what the Day of the Doctor would be like with the Ninth Doctor. Sometimes, fans wonder about these things and never get to know, but with this release, they will thanks to Moffat.
