Okay, an obvious question for me in this matter of staying is this. The question I am asking is from me not reading articles and other information which gives a reason for Eccleston leaving. S, please forgive me if it is dumb. Why would you leave such a great job after one year? That is my question and obviously I do not know the answer because I am not Eccleston.

From my perspective, I regret that he did not remain on the show. I believe him staying may have been a great thing. I know that he has did other things as far as acting, but Doctor Who is one chow which has a fan following all over the world. The popularity of the show is immense. What he could have gained is enormous. The article I read before writing this mentions that Eccleston has made this comment twice.

Obviously, from my standpoint I wish he was the Doctor for at least one more season. Apparently, light comedy is a big part of the show. This is evident from the way David Tennant plays his role as well as other actors who are the Doctor. Eccelston is not known for doing role which involve light comedy, therefore his comedic work is lacking. This I can see when watching his stories as the Doctor. The Doctor has one liners and other parts which should be funny. The actor needs to know how to deliver them in the right way. This is one area that Eccleston lacked. He admits this and says, “there would have been a marked improvement in my performance.”(1)

We will never know what changes he is going to make if staying the Doctor happens. He does say, “I would have liked to develop his character better.”(2) I cannot say that he choice to leave is because of fear, but maybe that plays some part in his leaving. He revers the character and realizes the importance of playing the Doctor at his best.

Now, I am not going to contradict myself here, but I finsh reading the article and find the reason Eccleston leaves. He does an interview last year with the Daily Record and he tells them,  “I’d had enough. I wanted to do it my way, they wanted something else. We were never going to compromise, so it was best to be straight about it and just go.”(3)  Well, it seems to me neither side is budging on the matter. Seems that egos got in the way and causes the separation of act and show runner. Therefore, Eccleston leaves.

Well, Steven Moffat gives him a chance to do one more episode. In 2013, he asks Eccleston to be apart of the 50th Anniversary Special and he turns him down. I also find out that Moffat writes the episode for Eccleston.(4)

okay, my question or maybe questions, is if you want to be apart of Doctor Who why not do the special? Secondly, Is there a secondary reason as to why you did not return for another season and not do the special?
