Breath

As the Impossible girl, Jenna Coleman was the good for Doctor Who. But as time goes by things change and things go from good to stale. Fans did enjoy watching Clara in the beginning. But the stories changed from being Doctor centered to Clara centered. This change bothers this fan and maybe many more. And there is a need for a breath of fresh air.

Well, fans find out that Jenna Coleman was leaving Doctor Who. As a result, this fan and other fans as well are excited, because the Doctor will have a new companion. Fans get excited because the Doctor will have someone new riding along for his adventures.

On April 1, 2017, the BBC lets fans know who the new companion is by releasing a video. Pearl Mackie introduced Bill Potts in the video released by the BBC. In the video, fans get some idea what to expect from short bits from different episodes from season 10. When fans see this video, they most likely get more excited. The reason for this is because Potts is different than Clara.

The differences between Clara and Bill make the program better. Capaldi and Mackie are a better team to me. The way Bill reacts to new situations and new data is marvelous. Mackie does a great job of selling Bill’s character. This fan sees Bill as a breath of fresh air and one reason why season 10 was a success.

Please don’t get me wrong. There are great episodes with Clara as the companion, but fans needed a change and got it with Bill. Making the Doctor’s companion Bill, was great. One example of this was in the story Smile. What Bill says and the way she says was great. Bill talking to the Doctor says, “Emoji it speaks emoji!” Her face and body language tell it all.

Adding Bill to the cast brought something different to Doctor Who. For many fans including this one, she brought good things to Doctor Who. Fans enjoyed watching Bill in Season 10 and hate to see her go.
