Touching Farewell

In this article from Radio TImes and author Huw Fullerton. Our present and leaving lead Peter Capaldi gives a touching farewell to his fans. From everything I read, this just goes along with this man’s character. I is grateful for his time as the Doctor and he sees that it is time for him to leave. This is a great thing for any actor to be willing to write and farewell letter even though he is not at the release.

As it seems to be what the leaving Doctor does, Capaldi is not at the release of the Christmas Special. If you are wondering about that. David Tennant and Matt Smith were present for the release of their regeneration episode neither. Which I really can see as something that I probably will not do either.

Capaldi talks about all the great places he travels and all the aliens he meets. He says, “For me, it’s been an amazing trip. I went to the end of time. I met fantastical creatures. And I blew them up.But now it’s over,” the actor concluded. “Time I was off.”(1)

I believe that Capaldi loves Doctor Who and that it really hurts him to leave the role, but times and people change he thinks it is best he goes. I can say that I am going to miss Capaldi. He put a different spin on the role which I like. Some of the episodes are better than others as what happens with all shows. He did Doctor Who proud and I wish him all the luck in the future.

Now, many fans may want to be selfish and say I want him to stay, but what we all have to do is accept his choice to leave the show now. He gave his reason a while and I can see why he chose to leave at this time. Doctor Who is great show and he wants to be sure it remains great. He honestly does not believe he can give the show is best every day of filming mostly because of the long hours and the amount time the show requires.

Everyone can see that Capaldi is a little older than Tennant and somewhat older than Matt Smith, but I don’t know if this choice has anything to do with his age. He knows his body, limitations, and his abilities and believes it is time to go.

I hate to see him to go and hopefully they can do a multiple Doctor episode and bring him back. Who knows what Chris Chibnall will do? I wish Capaldi the best and hope to see him around on other television programs. And I am personally glad he loves his fans so much he gives them a touching farewell.
