Thoughts on Mysterio
My thoughts on Mysterio are just that my thoughts. First of all, I can’t believe I actually watched it on Christmas day. Secondly, I believe that the program is all that I expect from Doctor Who and Steven Moffat. What I am about to say can no longer be spoilers. For I believe most everyone were able to see the program on Christmas night.
To some extent is does remind me of the time when the Ninth Doctor, Matt Smith, meets Amy Pond as a child. But there are differences in them. I do like the way the Doctor interacts with the character who becomes the Ghost later in the show and life. Of course the Doctor is the one to help create the Ghost. The young Grant is ask to hold on to a crystal which he thinks is a pill. Grant at their first meeting is sick with a cold. The Doctor ask him to hold the crystal and then swallows it. His reasoning behind that is that Doctor is a doctor and he is giving him medicine. Well, least to say the crystal is not a pill for the cold and Grant gains powers after he swallows it.
The story fast forward to the present day in New York City. At this time, Grant is the nanny for a reporter whose husband left her because of their child. Therefore Grant is employed by Lucy who is madly in love. Now, I know this is a sci-fi show, but this one also has a love story in it. Apparently Grant has loved Lucy since they were in school together as children.
The gets to New York and this alien life form, which looks brains are trying to take over the world. The way which this is to happen is they want to replace the brains of all the leader on Earth. By doing this they can take over the earth. This of course has all the makings of a superhero comic. The Doctor can’t remain neutral and involves himself. At the same time is reunited with Grant and he keeps thinking back to when Grant swallows the crystal and a promise Grant makes.
I found the whole show interesting. It is a little different from the other Christmas Specials. There really isn’t much Christmas things in this one. The show is worth watching and really allows whovians to see the Doctor again for the first time in several months.
My thoughts on Mysterio is that the mystery still remains on the Doctor, but the other Mysterio, the Ghost is revealed in the end. Lucy learns who the Ghost is and falls in love with him. The title I believe revolves around the first scene. Grant really has no idea who the Doctor is. Therefore, he give him the title Doctor Mysterio. In the end, the Doctor remains a mystery to Grant and Lucy as well others in New York City.
This show now prepares all whovians for the return of Doctor Who to the television the SPring of 2017. I am counting down the days til it airs again in the Spring.
