Sheffield

Whovians around the globe are so excited about the premiere of The Woman Who Fell to Earth. Everyone knows the BBC hasn’t let the world know much about Season 11 but as the premiere nears the fans are getting some tidbits. This article from the Guardian tells of a red carpet event in Sheffield, where the cast and crew speak about The Woman Who Fell to the Earth.

The author makes some important points in the article. Most concerning Jodie’s accent and the special effects fans will see. The fact there is a new cinematic style will amaze fans, or at least that is what Chibnall and everyone hopes.

So, what should fans look for ten days from now? As far as the cinematic style goes, there isn’t much to go on, but there are other things which catch your eye. Okay, what are these and why are they so interesting. Older fans of Doctor Who know the Doctor is discombobulated most of the first episode, This will remain a part of the story, so that isn’t a mind blowing difference. For the most part, the new Doctors changed their clothes almost immediately, but Whittaker’s Doctor will wear Capaldi’s garb for most of the episode. So basically, she will walk in the twelveth Doctor’s shoes, lol.

Fans will be grateful for this next point. Whether other actors did this is not relevant. But for the BBC and fans, Whittaker not watching too much Doctor Who before shooting seems relevant. Now, one may ask why not watch classic or even revived Who? According to the article, Whittaker’s desire is not to replicate anything she has seen. Season 11 begins a new era for Doctor Who, and changes are coming. What changes? Who knows other than the things fans read about in these articles.

Something else which most fans already know and that is Whittaker will keep her Yorkshire accent. Not a big surprise since fans heard this several months ago. Something else which fans may already know is that she fizzes with energy. Fans can see from the trailers Whittakers Doctor is fizzing with energy and it will help her to make great adventures.

A new soundtrack for the show is coming. Some fans may like it and others not. Some fans may take a little while to get acclimated to the new music. When the BBC said new Doctor Who, it seems very much fans are getting just that. How different? Well, fans don’t know yet, but everything presented here points to something vastly different.

The red carpet event at Sheffield give us some answers, but fans still have some questions as does the BBC. Some of them are: Will all the changes mean more viewers? Will the changes please the BBC? How well will the new cast work together? What new monsters are coming? What new planets will the fans and what new characters are coming Fans have these questions and more? But they must wait until October 7th to start getting the answers.
