New Information
The time before we as fans get to see a new Doctor Who story is getting closer and closer. New information on the next story is in some way is leaking out a little bit. The article I just read does give give some good information which is considered spoilers obviously.
With the continuation of the Christmas Special tradition, we are not that far away from having Doctor Who again. Since Christmas is only 24 days away, I cannot wait until the show airs. I do know that we will not see it here on Christmas Day. In some way I am envious of the people in the United Kingdom. They get to see the story on Christmas Day. The only thing I can say is wow and please hurry up and get here.
Now, this new information is not major spoilers, but there are few minor spoilers. Being a fan of Doctor Who, I know about the Christmas Special and I am sure other fans do as well. What fans want is spoilers. They want some glimpse into what they can expect. So, the people who write these articles know that and give us what they can get from the producers of the show.
As a fan you are very aware of the Christmas Special and its title. With the title of The Return of Doctor Mysterio, you get the feel of a superhero flick. This lends to excitement in that you wonder who is returning to Doctor Who. Of course we are going to see Peter Capaldi as the Doctor who will be joined Matt Lucas as Nardole.(1) Showrunner Steven Moffat is also the writer and was generous enough to give a little insight into the Special.(2) I admit what they tell is not a great deal, but it does tell us a little bit about the show.
For those fans who love superheros this is the Doctor Who special for them. Now, I do not know where Moffat got this superhero, but the name fits Doctor Who. I mean Doctor Mysterio. That really trends toward the mystery of the Doctor. You can see what I mean because the only name we have ever heard the Doctor called is the Doctor. How ironic that the superhero is Doctor Mysterio. Moffat does admit how much he loves superheros and then says, “this Christmas Doctor Who dives into the world.”(3)
The article reveals a few actors and actresses that are apart of the special along with their roles. These include Justin Chatwin from Orphan Black who plays the Ghost. Another character from the show is Lisa Fletcher who is played by Charity Wakefield from Wolf Hall.(4)
Other cast members include Lucifer from Bates Motel actos Adetomiwa Edun, Aleksander Jovanovic, and Logan Hoffman. The director of The Girl Who Died and The Woman Who Lived, Ed Bazalgette is at the helm of the Special.(5) With the information they reveal, I feel confident that the show is going to be good.
By watching the clip above, one can assume that the Christmas Special takes place in present day New York. At the same time Moffat apparently confirms that New York comes under a deadly alien menace. Because that is all the information they are able to get the end by telling us they will let us know if any more new information comes available.(6) Because they confirm they will give any new information in a new article. I will be looking for it.
