Merlin

Dear fans, there is a problem here or may have been a problem. The question posed now is why say that? Well, in this article by Hew Fullerton, fans see Matt Smith was one of two actors vying for the lead in the BBC series, Merlin. Okay, do get too upset here, as fans know he did not get the part and the rest is history.

Now, fans are probably thinking, why would Snith even consider Merlin, because he is a great Doctor? Of course, there are others who aren’t big fans and don’t care. Either way, the possibility of Smith not being the Doctor is possible.

Now, along with Smith, the article mentions Karen Gillian almost got a role in the show. She may have been Guinevere. Now, the fans are screaming no not both of them. Well, yes both of them auditions for Merlin.

Well, some fans are in at the moment, but why should they be? They all know Smith and Gillian are good if not great actors. The news is not a surprise to some if not all fans.

How different would Doctor Who be without Smith? Who knows the rest is history, and bowties are cool? Would fans hear that catchphrase from someone else? Yeah, someone else could have used it, but who knows how it would go.

Okay, fans are wondering why Smith didn’t get the job, right. Well, it is simple. Smith was too old. What? Fans are saying, “he was one of the youngest to be cast as the Doctor.” Yeah, but not young enough. The casting director thought Colin Morgan was a better fit because he is younger than Smith. Hey, at least, Smith did not lose the job because of being a horrible actor.

The good news is Doctor Who got Smith and Gillian, whereas Merlin got Morgan and Angel Coulby. Both shows benefited from their choices and will live on for years as fans continue to watch as well relive these actors time with both programs.
