Mandip Gill
According to this article, Mandip Gill is not ruling out a return. Doctor Who fans know the only way a companion does not return is if they die. Time is relative. You may wonder what that means. Fans of the show know companions return from time to time. One example is Jodie’s final episode classic companions Tegan Jovanka and Ace return. Of course, there are other times past companions return. In Season 2, Russell Davies brings Sara Jane Smith back and K-9 in School Reunion.
Doctor Who has multiple episodes with multiple Doctors and their companions. Her return can be as Yaz, or she may return as a different character. Most fans want her to return as Yaz. The idea of her returning as anyone else makes little sense to some fans. For this fan, she is not my favorite. Many fans love her and don’t want to see her go. But with Doctor Who, it is a revolving door. Doctors and companions come and go. It is part of Doctor Who. Actors coming and going is something fans see all the time. It all started when Susan left and then Ian and Barbara. There isn’t anything new about a companion leaving. Of course, fans have their favorites and wish they don’t go.
As fans, they know one day she will go. Why? Because that is the way Doctor Who works. The Doctor dies and regenerates into a new person. Companions fall in love, get tired of traveling with the Doctor, or get homesick. The change is what makes Doctor Who different. The changes in the Doctor and companions are the biggest reason for its longevity. Where is Doctor Who today without the changes? Who knows? The show may end in 1966. So, good luck in your future endeavors Mandip. One day you may return to Doctor Who. It is not out of the realm of possibilities.
