Loving the Doctor

Loving the Doctor for me is not hard. I have been a sci-fi fan for as long as I can remember. As a result, when I first see Doctor Who, I fall in love with the show. I know that I am only 9 or 10 years of age when I catch it for the first time. But this does not stop me from loving the Doctor from the beginning.

When I begin watching the program, Tom Baker is the Doctor. There is much to love about Baker as the Doctor. He is rather cooky at times and the clothes he wears are absolutely eye catching. The hat and the scarf are his signature. The clothes are another aspect of the Fourth Doctor I love. Baker give many reasons for loving the Doctor. His big smile sets him apart from the other Doctors. That is something that always seems to stick out to me. He seems to always be smiling. He can be serious but he is rather comical at times. His comic relief gives me much for loving the Doctor.

Now, later in my life I find out about the other Doctors. In high school LPB change the way they present the program and I meet the other Doctors. The second Doctor I meet is Jon Pertwee. He took a little bit to get use to and a little while long to fall in love with. But in the end he gives me reason for loving the Doctor. His seriousness and rather professor like manner made me love his Doctor. The use of His love of riding motorcycles, hovercraft, and riding in Bessie, the Whomobile give me reasons for loving the Doctor. His eccentric style and flashy clothes are how we see him. Yeah, was not the funniest but he did have a likable demeanor and style.

Baker finally walks away and we me meet Peter Davidson. I find it harder to fall in love with the Doctor with Davidson. It took me about a year to love him as much as Pertwee and Baker, but I do eventually love his style. He is totally different from the previous four and I suppose that is why it takes so long. But Davidson does give some reasons for loving the Doctor. His celery and crickett outfit are two of the reasons for loving the Doctor. His seriousness can be another, but he seems like he truly cares for his companions. This is another reason for loving the Doctor. He shows a weaker side that most of the other Doctors do not. Even though his time doesn’t seem as exciting, there are reasons for loving the Doctor.

During this time, Davidson’s episodes are that the BBC are making. So, LPB goes back to the First Doctor. Now, what comes from him that are reasons for loving the Doctor are different. He is a crabby old man and at times seems as if he dislikes his companions. He is very devious in his ways and does manipulate people. I can to some extent that is reason for loving the Doctor. I admit he has his own way and that is reason to love the Doctor.

That is just a few things about the Doctor. I admit most is from the classic series, but the new series has many of the same qualities. The traveling through time and space, the mystery, the enemies, the TARDIS, the companions, and so many other things. I truly fell in love with the program so long ago. I was hurt when it was cancelled in 1989, and so happy when it is brought back, and I hope all whovians enjoy the show as much as I do.
