Greatest Show
Okay, there are people in this world who will not believe that Doctor Who is the greatest show in the world. As a result, I can say that mostly Whovians will be the one to see it this way. Well, Steven Moffat, soon former showrunner gave an epic speech pertaining to this. In this article from Radio Times by Paul Jones, Moffat give his reasoning behind this statement.
Moffat tells that he would not make that statement as long as he is running the show. But now that he is on his way out he will and has. I find it amazing that he did this and I can see why he does so. There are many references to people in many professions being referred to as being in the profession because of Doctor Who.
I see where Moffat is coming from on this. A direct quote from Moffat as he says, “But yes, how do we measure its greatness? There are people who became writers because of Doctor Who. Loads of them. There are people who became artists because of Doctor Who. There are people who became actors because of Doctor Who. Two of them have played the Doctor.”
There is never going to be a perfect show and never be a perfect shooting of any show in this world because we are all flawed in some way. But Doctor Who is the greatest show because it touches and influences so many different people. Yeah, there are episodes and stories I do not like. Some are better than others. Then some are more difficult to follow and understand than others. The thing is that Doctor Who influences so many different people of all ages and nationalities.
I don’t care what those who don’t get the show think. Doctor Who will always be my favorite and most iconic sci-fi program of all time. It has been apart of my life since I was 9 years old, and I watched until 1989 when they cancelled it. After that I tried to find it after that but Louisiana Public Broadcasting quit showing it.
I am so grateful that the BBC let Russell Davies bring the show back. I will continue to be a Whovian for the rest of my life. Doctor Who will always be apart of my life and I believe it is the greatest show in the world.
