Fear

According to this article, there was one fear both former showrunners Russell Davies and Stephen Moffat had. Which comes as a surprise because some fans may have had more than one. The observation comes only because of comments seen on Facebook fans.

Davies and Moffat agree the work of Chibnall being good. But there is one worry or concern, and that is his moving Doctor Who to Sunday night. Fans in the UK and elsewhere for the ten seasons looked forward to watching their favorite sci-fi show on Saturday night. Well, those running the show saw the decline in ratings and chose to move the show.

Doctor Who was competing with Simply Come Dancing on Saturday night and it was losing the fight. What seems crazy, but was a fact though. Doctor Who was in a losing battle because of the time slot. For some people, it is all about a dance competition rather watching an iconic sci-fi program. Ok, some people might say, “Well in today’s world they can record the show and watch it later.? Hey, good idea, but not sure that recording helps the rates. To be honest it most likely doesn’t because it is not what the person is watching. But rather they are recording it. It is not live on their screens at that time.

For fans who are looking at ratings, the move to Sunday night was a good one. Yeah, the ratings went up because of the new Doctor and the companions, but moving the show was a brilliant idea. Now, don’t take from me. Moffat liked the move as did Davies. So, if anything it was a good move for the show.

It is a good thing to know that Moffat and Davies ad confidence in Chris Chibnall and see his work as good. There are many fans though who don’t have the same opinion, but you know what? To each his own, an let them gripe about every little thing. That is their prerogative. Season 11 was a success to many and to the others it wasn’t. The greatest thing is it will return for another season, so my guess the BBC liked the work Chibnall did.
