Donna’s Return

Wow, is this such a surprise? Catherine Tate, in this article from Screen Rant, says she is willing to return to Doctor Who as Donna Noble. Donna’s return would be something some fans would love to happen. Of course, there are some who won’t like it. But she would be good for the new series.

When Russell T Davies cast her as Donna, he did something different from the previous companions as well as the ones to follow. She challenged the Doctor in many ways. She wasn’t a companion who just said yes and did whatever he asked her to do. Her attitude is what makes the episodes fun to watch. How she mocked, sassed, and called out the Doctor without regard with his ego.

Donna was a breath of fresh air and, the chemistry between her and David Tenant was uncanny, and it was that chemistry which made some of their scenes funny. Of course, there is a problem or problems. The first is how will Tate and Whittaker work together. Will they have the chemistry Tate and Tenant had?

A second problem will be, does Chris Chibnall want to bring Donna back? The first series except for the New Years special did not have any old enemies or characters. But Chibnall is not completely against old enemies or characters. So, he could see it a good thing for Doctor Who. So, do we see Donna’s Return after Chibnall knows she is willing to play Donna again?

A third problem is Doctor wipes Donna’s memory of her ever meeting him. Fans remember the Doctor-Donna and what happened. If the Doctor doesn’t wipe out all thoughts of him, she dies. Dinna’s final episode is one of the most emotional of all time. But it had to be done.

Will Donna’s return happen? Fans can only hope that one day they will see her again. When it comes to the problems mentioned and others which may arise, there are ways to solve them or get around them. So, if the present production team wishes to bring back Donna they can.
