Doctor Who Lead
In this article, there is now news that Doctor Who lead actor, Peter Capaldi, was fighting back tears as he appeared on the Jo Whiley’s Radio 2. Now this of course, is not a surprise to me. From everything I read, Capaldi is big fan of Doctor Who. Because his love of the show, has to fight back tears as he makes the announcement.
For most Whovians, or at least this one, I never really like to see an actor go. I know that Doctor Who lead actors leave after two, three, four, or ever how many seasons they wish to play the lead. But this still is something which is rather hard. I say this because it seems just as you get to know one they leave.
I do not know the reaction of other lead actors as they announce their departure. If they love the show as much as Capaldi, well they may have had the same reaction. I personally can see why Capaldi will be emotional at the time of the announcement. I remember an interview he did and how he talks about the amount time spent on the show. That he says he did not want to continue if he could not give it his best.
I can say that is I am the Doctor and I see that I am not able to continue. I would be emotional as well. This to me will be the general reaction of an actor who loves the show. Why Capaldi would have a different reaction I don’t know. I know allot people may look down on a man if he cries, but that is a normal emotion when a person is sad. I really do not see anything wrong with this.
The emotion I usually feel when a lead leaves is one of surprise. I am also usually disappointed because I just got to know the Doctor they portray. Well, no sense in beating a dead horse. No, I am not really pleased that the 12th Doctor is leaving, but it is what it is. It is also good to know that maybe he really did not want to go.
