Different

This article by Huw Fullerton of Radio Times, speaks about the return of Jenna Coleman was almost different. Steven Moffat leaves Doctor Who as showrunner after the Christmas Special, and we find out from this article he rewrites Clara’s scene several times. Most fans know that she is working on another program called Victoria. Therefore she is busy.

Some fans are not keen on Clara, but then there are those who love her. It is only right that she made her appearance in Twice Upon a Time. The way she leaves the show in her last episodes leads to her return in the Christmas Special. But with her busy schedule, she was not able to film the scene Moffat wanted.

Moffat originally wanted Clara to appear alongside the Doctor’s other companions Bill and Nardol in the final scenes with the trio interacting before the scene ended with this exchange:

Doctor: “I’ll tell you something, though. You were always my favorite.”

Clara: “Who was?”

Bill: “Which One?”

Nardole: “I know”

The sequence concluded with the Doctor chuckling evilly and stepping back into the TARDIS. But the whole thing had to change once it became clear Coleman’s schedule was just too busy. (1)

Well, that scene may have gotten a laugh or two. The confusion of who the Doctor was telling you were always my favorite would leave some questions for fans.

Doctor Who fans have their favorite companions. Clara for me at first was a good companion not necessarily a great one. The way Moffat introduces her in The Asylum of the Daleks and then making her the impossible girl was great.

The understanding of why she appears in the regeneration episode is because she was the first person to see the Doctor after he regenerated. Therefore, Clara is apart of Twice Upon a Time. But, then Moffat also has to rectify the fact that the Doctor does not remember Clara.

In the end, the episode turned out okay. Moffat had to wait to make the scene of Clara on the battlefield until completing all the other filming. The way the Clara appeared worked great. Fans may have liked or even loved the original idea. But some may not have liked it.
