Deleted Scenes

Deleted scenes are part of any television show or movie. So, in the article from Radio Times, Huw Fullerton list some from several different stories. Now, fans only see the finished product, and never the scenes the production crew deletes. Of course, there are scenes from almost all if not all episodes, so fans may wonder what they are missing?

It is always interesting to find out what scenes the crew deletes. Fans love to see bloopers because most of the time they are hilarious. Fans may want to know how those scenes change the story or episode.

In the article, Fullerton speaks about a specific scene fans don’t see. So apparently, a scene with Amanda Mealing and Tony Marshall was filmed for the 2017 story, The Lie of the Land. If you don’t know who they are, here is a brief introduction. Both of them star the long-running medical drama Casualty. Which from reading the article would be hilarious.

The scenes sound more like these two are cops rather than doctors, but there are similarities between doctors and policemen. Mostly because both professions look to ID victims. But none the less they shoot the scene.

The dialogue goes something like this, “Have we got an ID on the driver yet?” Mealing’s doctor Connie Beauchamps asks. Marshall’s character Noel, replies “She had nothing on her. It’s lucky that the Monk was passing. he literally tore the door off and pulled out before the car exploded.” “Praise be to the benevolence of the Monks,” agreed Connie.

Fullerton mentions other deleted scenes from both the revived series as well as classic Doctor. Fan do wonder why some of the scenes aren’t included or why they were cut. The editing of these stories is a difficult process and the production crew has to cut what they believe will not work for the stories.

Do fans have a right to complain about the cutscenes? Some fans will say yes, but what if those scenes didn’t help the story to be the best it could be? See, that is why fans are fans and don’t edit the shows. Fans need to trust the production crew when it comes to editing the stories. They know what they need to do in order to bring the fans the best possible story. Or at least, that is the way it should be.
