Cliffhanger
What a cliffhanger! After all I saw in The Doctor Falls, Steven Moffat leaves the show at a stand still. The whole idea of Bill”s wound being her death in the previous episode and then the Master saves her by turning her into a Cyberman is one thing. Then they go a step further and bring back Heather from The Pilot. What happens to Bill just simply means that there is a new companion for season 11. Of course most Doctor Who fans know this already, because the BBC has already said they want change.
Bill begins this episode as a Mondasian Cyberman and shows how much the Doctor means to her when she cries and tears actually come from the eye sockets in the helmet. The Doctor and his companions are on a spaceship and the Master, Missy, and the Cybermen are looking modify the humans they have on board. What happens is really amazing and to some extent unbelievable. What the Doctor finds in the first episode turns into the more advanced race of the Cybermen. Which is not to far out there, since these are Cybermen
The Doctor, Nardol, Missy, and the Master are trapped on the ship and the Cybermen are coming to get them. Now, I find this to be very interesting and entertaining. I have some reviews with the title, Why the Season Finale was a disappointment. I do not find it a disappoint. The Cliffhanger alone excites me. I love the way Moffat uses Bill to fight the more advanced Cybermen. I love the way she shows her strong will to push back the conversion to the Cyberman she was made. The tears wear good, and gives the Doctor and Bill hope.
Nordal and the prisoners of the Cybermen help the Doctor to keep the Cybermen at bay. The Doctor, Missy, and the Master work together until the Master decides to leave and Missy does as well. There is a conversation between the old friends, but the Master and Missy both leave the Doctor. This is a good move by Moffat, but what happens next I like even better. Through what the DOctor has been doing, we see a change in Missy. In the end though both the MAster and Missy both die. Now, whether The Master changes into Missy is another question, and whether Missy regenerates is another question. We may see another version of Missy or the Master next season, but who knows.
Well, Bill does whatever Cyberman in the universe would love to do and shoot the Doctor. I can say it is not like I did see that coming. But what ensues is not what I am prepared for. Heather pulls Bill out of the Cyberman suit and makes her just like herself. Bill does not want to leave the Doctor but must. Nardol is not longer around and the Heather takes the TARDIS to some remote area. Where I am not sure and really will not know until the Christmas Special.
What transpires after the Doctor wakes up is something I love. His body tells him it is time to regenerate. But he stops it twice maybe three times. I am not sure of that. But the cliffhanger for the show is what we are left with on what appears to be a mountaintop. The 12th Doctor meets his original incarnation and that is where Moffat leaves it. Man, I cannot wait until the Christmas Special. We do not know who Capaldi’s replacement is and we don’t know if the Regeneration will take place in the middle of the Christmas special or at the end. This cliffhanger excites me about where the program is going. My hope to bigger and better things.
